Smokey
Smokey Dymny got his start in bicycle repair over 20 years ago in Toronto, volunteering at local co-ops. Eventually, this led him to professional bicycle mechanic instruction. With the sponsorship of the Bicycle Trade Association of Canada, a course was created which combined training and repair of used bicycles to create a comprehensive mechanics program. In doing so, Smokey constructed the largest Canadian bicycle repair facility in 2009 and 2010, with workspace for 16 mechanics.
Quadra Bike School
QBS started offering courses in 2011. The course is similar to the original Toronto course, but with a smaller class size and, consequently, more one-on-one focus for each student.
Located on Quadra Island, QBS is also a working bike shop that offers free tune-ups for local residents during the practical phase of each course.
